OVERVIEW

COMPAS is a data collection and analysis system for gas compressors.

The Compressor Analysis System (COMPAS) can help owners or operators of gas refilling stations to:

  1. 1. Measure performance
  2. 2. Optimise energy use
  3. 3. simplify maintenance
  4. 4. Trouble-shoot

COMPAS consists of hardware in the form of a box with sensors as well as a modular software. The modular software means that you only pay for what you need.

The user interface is web-server based and can be used on both normal PC's as well as mobile devices and PDA's. The number of users are not limited by a license, which means that any number of people can have access to the system to the same cost.

COMPAS does not only collect data and present it, it automatically aggregates and calculates new parameters to turn the data into information. That helps users to quickly understand and analyse with minimal effort.

HARDWARE

The hardware is comprised of a wall-type control box (185x185x120mm) and a number of sensors.

The sensors are current clamps used to measure the energy consumption in the compressor motors as well as motor current for daignostics. The current clamps are of clip-on type - no need for any rewiring of contactors or cables.

The small footprint of the system and the clip-on currrent clamps means that it is quick to install. Installation requires the following steps:

  1. 1. Attach current clamps
  2. 2. Route current clamp cables to box outside of control cabinet
  3. 3. Attach current clamp cables to box
  4. 4. Connect box to AC power socket
  5. 5. Attach box to PLC Ehernet switch

Figure above shows a network diagram of a typical COMPAS installaton.

SOFTWARE

The software consists of three modules:

  1. 1. Reporting module
  2. 2. Maintenance module
  3. 3. Recording module

The reporting module provides a number of reports providing a quick status view of the station.
It can be used to find causes of problems, optimise the energy use and analyse mobile gas supply.

The maintenance module monitors the state of the motors, cylinders and valves on the station.

The recording module consists of data loggers. The minimal sample time is as low as 20ms to enable trouble-shooting of fast signals and transients.

TRAINING

Training is available in small groups (1-4 people) for a 2 hour overview or a 1/2 day more extensive training.

DEMO

A demo version of the system is available on request.

HELP

The web-interface contains an online help system.
